In 1993, Koch Tavares entered the cultural sector in grand style: the South American Tour of José Carreras. In Brazil, accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of São Paulo, under the direction of the maestro Enrique Ricci, the presentation of the tenor took place in the São Paulo Municipal Theater.
The success of such an event among the public and in the media definitely strengthened the decision within the organization as to invest in this area.
Octagon Koch Tavares is also an expert in the process in obtaining incentives for cultural projects in working with the Minister of Culture and the city government of São Paulo.
The 9th Pride Parade of Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgenders in São Paulo, in June 2005, had the main theme of Civil Unions between Homosexuals, a project which has been awaiting vote in National Congress for 10 years.
In only two months of work, Octagon Koch Tavares raised the Parade to the status of "largest in the world" over the parades of New York, San Francisco, and Sydney. The event attracted more than 400,000 tourists to the city and according information by the SEET (Secretary of Sports and Tourism) delivered 2 million people to Avenida Paulista.
The know-how of Koch Tavares in the organization of large events, both nationally and internationally, gave a professional character to the Parade which as a consequence made an enormous splash in the media, thus yielding an estimated R$ 68 million.
The company was also responsible for the organization of the electronic opening Festival of the Gay Pride Week with the Trash 80's band at Tom Brasil.
