Social responsibility was made part of the strategic planning of Octagon Koch Tavares. Along the way, the company procured donations while facilitating hospital visits by athletes and provided classes on the fundamentals of sports for needy children, among other things.
Volleyball
In the two editions of the Samsung Cup, the participants of themEN'S AND Womens's All Star Teams such as Leila, Sandra Pires, Ana Paula, Tande, Carlão, Emanuel and Ricardo visited children hospitals and shelters in each city in which there was a competition. The athletes passed the afternoon joking, telling stories and talking with the children who were happy to simply have them there.
Tennis
Through the opportunities presented by the Spectacular Challenge , clinics for needy children were made possible. In 2000, the eight competitors of Brazil - Guga, Meligeni, Oncins, Simoni - and from Argentina - Squilari, Gáudio, Albano and Arnold - participated in this endeavor which took place in the Gymnasium of Ibirapuera.
During the Brasil Open, the largest tennis event in South America, which took place in Costa do Sauípe during its first run in 2001, Octagon Koch Tavares provided services to collect resources for the project Criança Esperança and Fome Zero, and undertook projects to help integrate children in impoverished community to the world of tennis.
Auctions of pieces donated by various sports players, stars of music and plastic artists as well as shows of grand singers and aces that bring in money are some of the programs that redistribute revenue to our projects.
The Favela Open is a competition that involves low-income youth from the southern zone of São Paulo whether or not involved in tennis. In 2005, as part of the projects of Koch Tavares, this was amplified to include Rio de Janeiro (negotiations with Rocinha) and Salvador. The role of Koch Tavares will be to produce the event, manage all the material necessary for the event like balls, racquets and shirts and collect income for the partners.
The champions of each stage will have the opportunity to get to know "the inside" of the Brazil Open: observing how to be ball-boys/girls, attending refereeing courses, training, and watching the matches. This is an action for social inclusion in order to provide such children with professional skills and enable them to lead a better life.
Beach Soccer
On Leme Beach, Rio de Janeiro (RJ), in a partnership with the local government, a Kid's School of Beach Soccer was set up which benefited hundreds of children in the nearby impoverished community. |
